TALKING TO TRANSLATOR
There are people who cannot communicate with
others in any way, neither verbally, nor in writing.
I have been living in England for more than five
years and no matter how hard I try, with many local people, I just cannot
understand myself. When you try to learn a language, there is an error that is
never taught in academies and that is culture. And it is that culture directly
influences our way of speaking, thinking, and acting personally and
collectively. Our culture makes us understand many important issues easily.
Culture opens the door for us or closes it for us to understand other cultures.
In the kingdom of heaven, it is spoken from the culture of the kingdom of God.
Within our natural minds we intend to take the Bible and give it our context
and meaning which, in most cases, has nothing to do with the thoughts of the
kingdom of heaven. Let us remember that the Bible is written by people from the
East. Let us remember that the Bible or the oral transmission of the deeds of
the Jewish people with God, are more than 3,500 years old. This and many other
things condition us, and it seems that we need a translator to read the Bible.
"And as they came down from the mountain, he commanded them to tell no
one what they had seen, except when the Son of Man had risen from the
dead."
Mark 9. 9
There are certain biblical passages that make
me put my hands to my head: Jesus Christ begins this teaching by saying that
many before dying will see the kingdom of heaven acting with power. He takes
James, Peter, and John and before them is transfigured and becomes God, so that
Moses and Elijah appear to them. In the end he tells the apostles that they
cannot talk about this great miracle until he rises from the dead. Hey, sorry
Master, what is this you ask of us? If today I am dying to preach the gospel of
Christ, even with my intermediate level English, how will God ask me to keep a
miracle of yours for me until a specified date?
"And they kept the word among themselves, discussing what it would be
like to rise from the dead."
Mark 9. 10
In truth, on certain occasions, due to the lack
of revelation, what God tells us, we need him to tell us by talking to a
translator to understand, analyse and assimilate what he said. But to be
honest, this lack of understanding also goes through our lack of intimacy with
God. Perhaps, if we were to spend more time cultivating our relationship with
him, we would easily understand what God asks of us and thus, the level of
understanding to obey his commands and statutes would be quite high. Let us not
waste any more time and look for God in full intimacy to be those little
Christs that we should be.
God bless you.
