DO NOT LOSE YOUR LIFE
We are responsible for our decisions but our silence supports the actions
of others.
IT IS surprisingly how influential we are throughout our lives. Many of those
ideas, advice and opinions that others give us are good for our lifestyles.
However, on other occasions we will find that those concepts they give us are
not good for our lives at all, pushing us to lead a lifestyle that has nothing
to do with God's will. Therefore, those people who should be a blessing to us,
become toxic people. We do not have to lose our lives by following bad advice
disguised as eloquence and pseudo holiness, we have to stand firm in the divine
concepts and precepts. We must maintain a firm relationship with the Holy
Spirit of God and thus, we will know what is good and what is good for each one
of us.
“And if your foot causes you to fall, cut it
off; It is better for you to enter life lame, than having two feet to be thrown
into hell, into the fire that cannot be quenched."
Mark 9. 45
In this metaphor, Christ invites us to walk
straight before the eyes of God. Many times that path will be influenced by the
same culture and it will be up to us to accept it or not. For example, as a
Colombian, it is easy to lead a life of commiseration and a romance-like
lifestyle. As a result, I had to give up that kind of lifestyle and revert to a
mindset like the one you have in the kingdom of heaven.
"Where their worm does not die, and the
fire never goes out."
Mark 9. 46
The real or metaphorical Inferno is not a place
where you want to spend eternity. No sane human being wants to be in hell
forever. Having to leave a toxic friendship or relationship is not easy at all.
There are many feelings that we must face, but honestly, it is the best we can
do in our lives. Jesus Christ was rejected by an almost perfect young man for
the kingdom of heaven, but his love for money did not allow him to follow
Christ. Jesus Christ accepts this decision and lets him go. In the same way, we
should take this example to learn to get rid of all those who are a stumbling
block to our lives, because it is better to be lame than to lose life itself.
