BE CAREFUL, THEY WILL NOT LIKE IT!
Any of our actions as Christians will be a
scandal to the rest of the world.
TODAY I read about how little acceptance we have as Christians even though we
follow God's commands. Within that very writing, I read how difficult it is to
be a Christian and follow those same orders. Singer Alice Cooper mentioned how
easy it is to have orgies and binges destroying a hotel room, but that he knew
true rebellion when he was converted to Christ. The true rebellion is to go
against the world and its customs. So, we must be prepared if we decide to
follow God's ways, because this walk with God will be hard, because we will
have to fight against the currents of this century. Added to this, we will have
to fight against the traditions entrenched in the very bosom of Christianity
that have nothing to do with the will of God.
“And he taught them, saying: Is it not written:
My house will be called a house of prayer for all nations? But you have made it
a den of thieves."
Mark 11. 17
In the previous devotional we commented that
today we are the temple of the Spirit of Christ. Therefore, it is expected that
we have a life of holiness, understanding that we are set apart for God and
thus, demonstrate the greatness of the one who called us from darkness to his
Light. This holiness does not mean perfection or absence of sin, mistakes, and
problems. We are guided by the Holy Spirit, thus, although we are wounded souls
helping wounded souls, we are sanctified and justified by Christ.
“And the scribes and the chief priests heard of
it, and they were seeking how to kill him; because they were afraid of him,
because all the people were amazed at his doctrine."
Mark 11. 18
Be careful, they will not like it! Neither to
the world nor to the people of the churches that we follow the divine mandates,
but it is in our hands to ignore this type of adversity that we are going to
have. God already gave us the victory in Christ, but he never told us that we
would not have to live what we went through. God gave us promises of healing
and restoration for these moments. Let us remember that our fight is not
against our relatives, friends, our adversary is the enemy. We must believe and
apprehend ourselves of this reality to live with confidence in God.
