THE COMPARISON
I am a worthy child of God and I am not worth
the bad comparisons.
ONE of the methods used to rate us is through comparison. This comparative
action makes us competitive and if we know how to properly focus that healthy
rivalry that is generated, we will achieve unsuspected goals and it will be a
driving force for the rest of the team that we usually make up. This work
dynamic is applicable in all the environments that we have, for example, at
home, at work itself, at church, in the study ... well, we know that the list
is enormous. The problem arises when the human being becomes selfish, a very
common act, and begins to have an unhealthy comparative rivalry, which leads to
belittling and underestimating the rest of human beings. Within the pedagogy of
Jesus of Nazareth, he made use of comparative parables to reach, precisely in
an innocent way, people who had a willing and teachable heart. These
characteristics are often absent in the biased religious mind of those who put
their personal beliefs before the will of God.
"Then Jesus began to tell them in
parables: A man planted a vineyard, fenced it off, dug a winepress, built a
tower, and leased it to some husbandmen, and went far away."
Mark 12. 1
In this stage of Jesus Christ on the way to the
Cross, he will find himself teaching not only his disciples, but he will also
teach those who tomorrow will be his executioners. If as human beings we must
compare ourselves, we should do it against the example that Jesus of Nazareth
left us. Let us remember that he was 100% human, 100% God. We appeal precisely
to the human part of Christ to try to reach the stature that he left us
embodied in each of the Gospels.
"And at his time, he sent a servant to the
husbandmen, to receive from them of the fruit of the vineyard."
Mark 12. 2
Today we are the ones who are in the vineyard
of God. Today we manage both physically and spiritually speaking God's
creation. Everything that God gave us, what are we going to do with it? Are we
going to empower it and thereby help the extension of the kingdom of Christ? Or
quite the opposite, will we be a stumbling block for God as well as for the
rest of humanity?
God bless you.
