THE POWER OF PRAYER
Communication, an essential element for any relationship, is what we
neglect the most.
WE are not aware of all that we lose by not having
good communication. The biggest current social conflicts is due to lack of
communication. God wisely gave us a mouth and two ears, it was not for some
whim, it has a purpose. Within the communication process, God has given us
prayer as a system to dialogue with him. I honestly do not know the exact
formula to pray, but an essential and necessary element is faith. The very word
of God tells us that without faith it is impossible to please God and that he
is a rewarder of those who seek him. According to a Stanford University study,
only ten percent of active Christians in a congregation have a daily prayer
life. Thirty percent do it once a week, counting on the day of worship, the
rest, that is, sixty percent not even attending worship, make a prayer to God
and that their attendance is more by tradition than by conviction . Let us
remember that the power of prayer will make the difference between what we say
and what we live.
"For truly I tell you that whoever says to
this mountain: Get off and lie in the sea, and will not doubt in his heart, but
will believe that what he says will be done, what he says will be done to
him."
Mark 11. 23
Although many congregations still use a prayer
book, we could consider that there is no better prayer than the one we do
naturally and we say to God with sincerity everything that is inside our
hearts. In this way, with that sincerity we will be just as Christ told us:
children in front of him, in this way we can even feel that he is lifting us up
in his embraces and we count on all his support and response to obtain
everything we need so that we live according to his purposes in glory.
"Therefore, I tell you that whatever you
ask for in prayer, believe that you will receive it, and it will come to
you."
Mark 11. 24
Unfortunately this verse is very misunderstood
and misinterpreted. Many people take it as a license to be spoiled and ask
whatever they want. The misunderstanding of this passage has made many consider
God as the genie of the lamp which grants and grants capricious wishes. Let's
be careful not to be idolaters and with it, get confused because God is our
Father who takes care of us and provides us so that we fulfil his purposes in
our lives.
