IT IS FOR OTHERS
We sow, we reap both for ourselves and for others.
IN the law of God given to the Jews there was a section in the harvest that
says: When you follow the harvest of your land, you will not reap until
the last corner of it nor glean the surplus of your harvest; you will leave
them for the poor and for the stranger. I am the LORD your God. Thus,
the Jews knew that the blessing was for them, as well as for people unknown but
who were entirely in need, both physically and spiritually. So why do we as
Christians lock ourselves in our congregations and not share in the blessings
that God has given us? Why do we as individuals forget the grace and mercy with
which we have been treated by God and do not give others the same opportunities
that he gives us? God had chosen the people of Israel to be a source of light
for all the surrounding nations. So much so that God allowed them to locate
themselves in a strategic point of the Fourth Crescent. This geographical place
ranged from Mesopotamia, that is to say Iran, to the Egypt that we know today.
All the nations of the East that wished to trade with the West had to pass
through Israel. Therefore, they had every option to be evangelizing in any
direction in the known land. Unfortunately they, instead of making God close to
the other nations, made their own Ghetto, isolating God and his blessings for
the nations. In this way, the law of sowing and reaping is also being
corrupted.
"BUT I DON'T WANT, BROTHERS, THAT YOU
IGNORE THAT MANY TIMES I HAVE PROPOSED TO GO TO YOU (BUT SO FAR I HAVE BEEN
HAMBED), TO ALSO HAVE SOME FRUIT AMONG YOU, AS AMONG THE OTHER GENTILES."
Romans 1. 13
The Gospel that the Apostle Paul ministered was
first to the Jews. But they, after not accepting the Good News of Salvation,
Paul was directed by the Holy Spirit to those who, desiring to be in the
presence of God and could not do so because of the strict religious rules of
Judaism, did it, they were, those who the Jews despised with the saying:
"the gentiles". Today we live in an inclusive society and it requires
a whole culture around all this. I honestly agree with most of the arguments
they make. Because for many years, as Christians we have mistreated human
beings because they do not have God as their Lord. And this fact, instead of
being a safeguard, has actually become a curse fact for our own lives. Perhaps,
do we continue to believe that this time of virtuality in the churches has been
free? Are we going to continue to blame others and not see our share?
"TO GREEKS AND NON-GREEKS, TO THE WISE AND
TO THE NON-WISE I AM A DEBTOR."
Romans 1:14
What a challenging verse, we are debtors before
God and before all human beings. Yes, debtors because we do not do justice to
the Cross of Calvary and the Resurrection of Jesus Christ. God is faithful and
has loved and forgiven us. Today we can repent and correct our ways and make
the Gospel a lifestyle available to all human beings. Let us remember that God
watches us for who we will be and not for who we are right now.
God bless you.
