CHRISTIAN DEVOTIONAL
WHAT MAKES ME A CHRISTIAN
The Gospel is not about clothes, food, or fashions, it is about a lifestyle.
I recently had a conversation with a sister about giving herself a chance at Christianity again. And one of her main complaints on her part was the demands made by the churches versus what is read in the Bible itself, especially in the New Testament texts. He spoke to me of the incongruity between the God of love with whom people are preached, but who, over time, is presented to a god (angry, vengeful, and exclusive by several acceptable social norms in the congregation) that it has nothing to do with that God of love with whom one easily falls in love. De facto, thank God, he cannot convince her, because the conviction is an exclusive act of the Holy Spirit, because his sincere argumentation completely collides with the religiosity that exists even within some congregations. Marcion, was a theologian in the time of the first centuries of the church. His hypothesis led him to be condemned as a heretic. Marcion held the possibility of the existence of the God of the OT and the God of the NT among others, for those same details that today separate many of the churches and as a direct consequence, open a tremendous gap between God and individuals.
"AND THE ONE WHO IS PHYSICALLY UNCIRCUMCISED, BUT PERFECTLY KEEPS THE LAW, WILL CONDEMN YOU, WHICH WITH THE LETTER OF THE LAW AND WITH CIRCUMCISION YOU ARE OFFENDER OF THE LAW."
Romans 2. 27
How tremendous, then, that in the Gospel that the Apostle Paul proposes to us, we are reminded that, with the same reasons that we are going to judge others, we will be condemned. The Gospel of Paul makes a theology of what Jesus Christ previously said: And as you want human beings to do with you, so do you with them. We should not demand of people what we are not willing to do or give. Let's not say, we are going to cross the river if we are not willing to cross it first. Let us remember that God's plans are superior to ours as the prophet says: Because I know the plans that I have for you, says the LORD, plans for well-being and not for evil, to give you a future and hope. So, why if God gives us freedom, future, considering a better future we enslave the new believers?
“FOR IT IS NOT A JEW WHO IS EXTERNALLY, NOR IS CIRCUMCISION WHICH IS MADE EXTERNALLY IN THE FLESH; BUT THAT THE ONE WHO IS IN THE INTERIOR IS JEW, AND THE CIRCUMCISION IS THAT OF THE HEART, IN SPIRIT, NOT IN LETTER; THE PRAISE OF WHICH COMES NOT FROM MEN, BUT FROM GOD.”
Romans 2. 28-29
Everything comes from God, and what comes from God is good. Jesus Christ said: Come to me, all of you who are weary and burdened, and I will give you rest. Take my yoke upon you, and learn from me, for I am meek and humble in heart; and you will find rest for your souls; For my yoke it is easy, and my burden light. And as Christians, this should be the way to live, both at the private and community level. Let us extend the Kingdom of God, let us extend the truth of Christ. Let us be happy and let joy also be over all human beings. Since this is what really makes us Christians.
