FOR LOVE OF NEIGHBOUR

In the law love for God and your neighbour is fulfilled.

ON a certain occasion Jesus of Nazareth was questioned by a Teacher of the Law and it happened that: Seeing that Jesus had answered them well, one of the teachers of the Law, who had heard them discuss, approached him and asked: - What is the first of all the commandments? Jesus replied, “The first commandment of all is: “Hear, Israel: the Lord our God is the only Lord. Love the Lord your God with all your heart, with all your soul, with all your mind, and with all your strength.” But there is a second: "Love your neighbour as yourself." No commandment is more important than these. Thus, the love relationship between God and human beings is directly proportional. This is something that makes me reflect on the greatest claim that God made to the people of Israel: For the LORD your God is God of gods and Lord of lords, a great, powerful and fearsome God who is no respecter of persons and accepts no bribe. He does justice to the fatherless and the widow, and he shows his love to the foreigner by giving him bread and clothing. So show love to the foreigner, because you were foreigners in the land of Egypt. And the condemnation to Israel was that they never fulfilled these divine commands. But this same claim on God's part remains for each one of us.

“DO NOT OWE ANYONE ANYTHING, BUT LOVE ONE ANOTHER; BECAUSE HE WHO LOVES HIS NEIGHBOUR HAS FULFILLED THE LAW.”

Romans 13.8

Let us pray together: in you, Jesus Christ, the law and all divine demands were fulfilled, therefore, I beg you in your Holy Name that I may reach your stature and thus please the Heavenly Father.

The current religious trend is supposedly becoming a Jewish pseudo-Christianity. Honestly, I do not know how to eat this philosophy. Because if only Jesus of Nazareth managed to fulfil the Law, how do we intend to achieve this goal today? Furthermore, if the requirement to love God and neighbour in the same proportion is very difficult to fulfil, then how will we be those new Jewish Christians? The Gospel of Christ comes to give us freedom and thus try to fulfil the divine mandates.

 

"BECAUSE: YOU SHALL NOT ADULTERATE, YOU SHALL NOT KILL, YOU SHALL NOT STEAL, YOU SHALL NOT BEAR FALSE WITNESS, YOU SHALL NOT COVET, AND ANY OTHER COMMANDMENT, IN THIS SENTENCE IT IS SUMMARY: YOU SHALL LOVE YOUR NEIGHBOUR AS YOURSELF."

Romans 13.9

Let us pray together: Our God, your Decalogue is perfect and a source of inspiration for my life. You know that I have a hard time trying to fulfil them but in you, I know that your Holy Spirit helps me to do it.

Do not harm people, it is a clear way to show love to others. Of course, all the acts we do against our own society, is a blatant lack of love for God and for our neighbours. We must react, activate ourselves in world evangelisation, bring the Light of Christ to all nations and thus allow God's love to be seen in all human beings, especially in widows, orphans and foreigners, in all those who Today they are in need of God, in the same way that you and I were yesterday.
