The authorities are for our benefit.

WHEN I was a teenager, I was irreverent with the authorities. Starting with the lack of respect towards my parents, such as the teachers he had, for example. I always had a false fear directed at my teachers. In those days, they could yell at us and expel us from schools. But, that respect that they deserved for being people dedicated to the education of the new generations, I did not feel it, much less manifest it. Until the day I met director Siguifredo, this man knew how to treat me with respect and care. With which, I saw that one could have respect for the authorities. He was the director of the Manizales Institute. Thanks to God, to my effort and the work that, among others, Siguifredo did with me, I finished high school without being expelled from it.

“BECAUSE THE MAGISTRATES ARE NOT THERE TO FEAR FEAR IN THOSE WHO DO GOOD, BUT IN THE EVIL. WOULD YOU HAVE NO FEAR OF AUTHORITY? DO WHAT IS GOOD, AND YOU WILL HAVE PRAISE FROM HER; BECAUSE HE IS A SERVANT OF GOD FOR YOUR GOOD. BUT IF YOU DO WRONG, FEAR; BECAUSE HE CARRIES THE SWORD NOT IN VAIN, BECAUSE HE IS A SERVANT OF GOD, AN AVENGER TO PUNISH THOSE WHO DO EVIL.”

Romans 13.3-4

Let us pray together: my God, not having respect for the authorities has caused me many problems in life. I ask you in the Name of Jesus Christ, give me the strength first, to submit to you to understand and assume my respect for the authorities that you have placed.

I had very little care to respect the authorities. Until the moment I understood that the fact of being rebellious, moved me away from the stature of Christ, which had become my personal goal. Another fact that helped me change my attitude towards the authorities was allowing the Mind of Christ to act in me. How will we have respect for God that we do not see if we do not respect those whom we do see?

 

“WHICH IS WHY IT IS NECESSARY TO BE SUBJECT TO HIM, NOT ONLY FOR REASON OF PUNISHMENT, BUT ALSO BECAUSE OF CONSCIENCE.”

Romans 13.5

Let us pray together: Father, I give you the throne of my life so that you rule in me. Holy Spirit, guide me, instruct me and help me to reach the stature of Christ.

Therefore, we must be very careful not to be disrespectful to the authorities, because if we do, we are against the divine estates. Only God can give us the strength to do and to want. But at the end of it all, we have to obey the authorities as a mere matter of conscience.
