WE LIVE IN PEACE
We all want to live in peace, but we do little to develop it.
I AM of Colombian origin and of course I am very proud of it. Unfortunately, when people meet me, they only know how to associate me with the garbage that has been sold in soap operas and in the tabloid press that only offers violence, drugs and yellow and ill-intentioned reports. Also, I can understand that the lack of good information makes people, when they hear Colombia, think of Escobar, FARC and the climate of corruption that, of course, is also part of our history. For me, the peace that only Colombia offers is to think of the beautiful coffee plantations that make the whole world happy. Those beautiful orchids and flowers of Paradise that make me emulate Eden itself. See those beautiful emeralds that, for example, decorate my wedding ring. That there are many scientists of international stature, astronauts, writers, artists, musicians, among others. But of course, I speak of María, José, Carlos, Margarita and the millions of Colombians who vibrate to make our nation great. Because there are more people who try to live in peace, than those minimum who only seek to do evil.
“IF POSSIBLE, AND AS MUCH AS IT DEPENDS ON YOU, LIVE IN PEACE WITH EVERYONE.”
Romans 12.18
Let us pray together: Loving God, I know it is not easy to get along with everyone. But I also know that you want me to love everyone the same way you do. Help me to love my neighbour, my work or study partner and above all, help me to show that Christ is alive in me.
It is not easy to try to keep the peace, especially when we have to experience acts of injustice. God, through Paul's Gospel book, tells us to try by all means to live and remain in peace. The Apostle himself tried to do it and because of his experience, he gave us this statute: I more; in jobs more abundant; in lashes without number; in more prisons; in danger of death many times. Five times I have received from the Jews forty lashes minus one. Three times have I been beaten with rods; once stoned; three times I have suffered shipwreck; One night and one day I have been like a castaway on the high seas; on paths many times; in perils from rivers, perils from robbers, perils from my nation, perils from Gentiles, perils in the city, perils in the wilderness, perils in the sea, perils among false brethren; in work and fatigue, in many sleepless nights, in hunger and thirst, in many fasts, in cold and in nakedness; and in addition to other things, what crowds me every day, the concern for all the churches. Who gets sick, and I am not sick? Who is tripped up, and I am not indignant?
"DO NOT TAKE VENGEANCE, MY BROTHERS, BUT LEAVE THE PUNISHMENT IN THE HANDS OF GOD, FOR IT IS WRITTEN: "VENGEANCE IS MINE; I WILL PAY", SAYS THE LORD."
Romans 12.19
Let us pray together: My God, I give you my life once again, do with it, what you have to do. Help me to live in peace and that every act of injustice that is done to me, be repaid by you and do not allow me to fall into the temptation of trying to take revenge. I ask this in the Name of Jesus Christ.
When we put the love of God in each of the acts of our life, we can understand that only the Mind of Christ acting in each one of us will make us live in Peace. Trying to do it without the gift of the Holy Spirit that gives us that peace, is simply exhausting and impossible to live. Let us give our hearts to God today and let the Peace that surpasses all understanding, fill us and overflow.
God bless you.
