THE WOMAN WHO HELPED ME

The relevant role of women is paramount in our lives.

BEING macho is a counterproductive attitude in my life. And this is a reality that should be latent in any human being, especially if he considers himself a Christian. I am not making an apology for feminism at all, because I consider that exactly the same, but from the other side. In my life, I am surrounded by many women: Ani del Río my wife, Natalia and Daniela my daughters; my mom, my grandmothers, my sisters, my aunts, my cousins. In school, my best teachers were my teachers. At the ministerial level, women often support me constantly in prayer, exhortation and guidance when I seek an exact answer from God. So, if I had to list the women who have helped me, I would fall short and surely leave many out due to a bad memory.

Romans 16.1

Let us pray together: God of glory and majesty, nothing escapes you. Everything that exists is under your control. God of glory and power, help me to correct any attitude against women or men that I may have. Help me to be the same as Jesus of Nazareth, who knew how to set an example of equality in his life.

The Gospel of Christ is not, above all, misogynistic. In the same way, it is a very serious mistake to consider the Apostle Paul as an inveterate chauvinist. Also, in some biblical interpretations, God is accused of being chauvinistic, which is totally contrary to the heart of God. However, in the biblical texts, we will find some characters who were sexist and the example of mistreatment given to women is very embarrassing. For this reason, whenever we can, let us honor the women around us and with great diligence let us talk to the people around us, that they do the same with the women who are so attentive to us.

“I ASK YOU TO RECEIVE IT WITH DIGNITY IN THE LORD, AS SHOULD BE DONE BETWEEN BROTHERS IN THE FAITH; GIVE HER ALL THE HELP SHE NEEDS, BECAUSE SHE HAS HELPED MANY PEOPLE, INCLUDING ME.”

Romans 16.2

Let us pray together: Jesus Christ, you are worthy to receive glory, honor and exaltation. I understand how important it is to be surrounded by people who love me and that you have put extraordinary women and men around me. Bless them and protect us, I ask this in your name. Amen.

There is a lot of work that women do. All of them do it, in the vast majority of cases, selflessly and altruistically. Finally, I would like to emphasise the ministerial role of women in the current church, they will be able to work in the same way that men do, because the ministry of Jesus Christ was to liberate all humanity and not for a specific gender.
