WITH A KISS
There are gestures that will never be forgotten.
IT is amazing how customs change between countries. For example, in Colombia, to greet each other we can do it with a kiss on the cheek but strangely, the other person is hugged. In Spain, people usually greet each other with two kisses on each cheek and, occasionally, a very strong hug is offered, but at least the arms are clasped in a semi-embrace. On the other hand, in England, not even out of astonishment is there a kiss in the greeting, nor are they going to hug you by mistake. In Italy, they give you three kisses when they greet you and take you in their arms. In Portugal, they give you a couple of kisses, a hug; It's funny how you say thank you in Portuguese: muito obrigado (personally I get the feeling that even with their gratitude, the Portuguese are hugging you). And this type of physical stimulation strengthens trust and love between human beings.
“GREETE PHILOLOGUS, JULIA, NEREO AND HIS SISTER, OLIMPAS AND ALL THE BROTHERS WHO ARE WITH THEM.”
Romans 16.15
Let us pray together: Heavenly Father, everything is under control in your hands. Even feelings are affirmed through other people, when I receive a hug and a sincere kiss of love. Even my God, how many times have I been able to feel your arms through the hugs of my brothers in faith.
One of the best experiences in my life has been being able to have and have a second family, such as the Church of Christ. All the people who have welcomed me in the different congregations have made me feel that I am a brother, an uncle, a cousin, a nephew, a grandfather, in short. Like the Apostle Paul, if I had to make a list of the people who have blessed me with their kisses and hugs throughout my life, the list would be very incomplete, due to my bad memory and because I would not give the infinite thanks that my family in faith deserves.
“GREETING EACH OTHER WITH A HOLY KISS. ALL THE CHURCHES OF CHRIST SEND YOU GREETINGS.”
Romans 16.16
Let us pray together: Heavenly Father, I receive your kisses and hugs through silent caresses. Sometimes you do it through my marriage and family. At other times you do it through nature. In others, simply, in the silence of our relationship, I can feel it.
I am a firm believer in the hug as therapy, being part of the physical healing between human beings. Obviously, if we seal that hug with a kiss, I reliably believe that this bond is reaffirmed. In this way, we become warmer, protective and cooperative people. Also, with each kiss and hug, we begin to develop empathy for others.
God bless you. Remember to share this text to all the people you can.
