A GOOD X-RAY

We have to be so transparent that we are light for others.

THE series “THE CHOSEN” is the best television adaptation we will have of the life of Jesus of Nazareth. One of the best endorsements in which I support my opinion about this series is that they are surrounded by an incredibly rich scientific rigour (in this case theological foundation). There are several theologians and other professionals who are advising the entire Angel Studios work team. And I allude to this series so much, because they make a perfect x-ray of what happened in terms of the events of Jesus of Nazareth and the emergence of the Primitive Church. In the verses that I propose to read today, the evangelist Luke traces exactly what was happening between the members of the Church and the Holy Spirit of Christ. So, this is worth imitating, because as Christians we now have two good x-rays, the book of Acts and the series "The Chosen" so we continue to turn our gaze and consider that these matters are not with us.

   

“ALL THE BELIEVERS WERE VERY UNITED AND SHARED THEIR PROPERTY AMONG THEMSELVES; THEY SOLD THEIR PROPERTIES AND EVERYTHING THEY HAD, AND DISTRIBUTED THE MONEY ACCORDING TO THE NEEDS OF EACH ONE.”

Acts 2.45-46

Let us pray together: My God, I wish to follow a lifestyle like your Son Jesus Christ did. I fervently long to live in the same style as the early Church did and prove that the Kingdom of Heaven is real.

So, let's consider what those characteristics of the Early Church were according to what we are reading:

They were united.

They shared their assets.

They sold their property and divided it up.

They met every day in the Temple and in the houses.

They ate together and with great joy.

They praised God.

They were loved by their neighbours.

They grew horizontally and vertically by the action of the Holy Spirit in their lives.

Now, making a reflection on how they were living, what is it that stops us from being a faithful copy of that primitive church?

 

“EVERY DAY THEY GATHERED IN THE TEMPLE, AND IN THEIR HOUSES THEY BROKE BREAD AND ATE TOGETHER WITH JOY AND SIMPLICITY OF HEART. THEY PRAISE GOD AND WERE ESTEEMED BY EVERYONE, AND EVERY DAY THE LORD MADE THE COMMUNITY GROW WITH THE NUMBER OF THOSE HE WAS CALLING TO SALVATION.”

Acts 2.46-47

Let us pray together: My God, I am aware that I still have a lot to give in your church to reach the ideal that you have of it. Holy Spirit, I beg you: give me the will and the doing to work in favour of the extension of the Kingdom of Heaven. Sincerely, God, I long for it and desire it, therefore, I tell you here I am, working in my being to become a generator of change.

On the other hand, a good x-ray shows the problems or possible discomforts that are hidden within us. If these x-rays do not work, they will do a scan and depending on the need, they will do it with contrast liquids. In the same way, we have to allow God to carry out these types of spiritual analyses to know, in this case, what is affecting us so that, thus, we are healthy and can be good elements for the extension of the Kingdom of Heaven.
